If you want to see Bremen through different eyes, you have to go with Jasmin and her team.
Moin (as we say in Bremen) dear guests!
My name is Jasmin Nitzschner and I am a passionate tourist guide. As a native of Bremen, strictly speaking, Bremen-North, my love for my hometown is deeply rooted.
Even as a child, I loved visiting museums, and on school trips I always felt like I was the only student who was excited when we visited a castle or other historical relics, or when a city tour was announced as part of the program. Since history was always my favorite subject at school, I realized quite early on that I wanted to do something related to history or museums for a professional career. While studying history at the University of Bremen, I discovered how fascinated I was by the history and stories of my hometown. After completing my master's degree, I did a two-year scientific internship at an exhibition in Bremen-North, which also dealt with part of Bremen's history. One of my tasks there was to guide groups of visitors through the exhibition. That was the “foundation stone” for my work as a tourist guide.
After completing my internship, I started working as a freelance tourist guide. For a while, I also worked at the Denkort Bunker Valentin memorial site, where my duties included guiding groups of visitors through the memorial. I have now been working as a self-employed tourist guide for over eleven years — more than five of those as my main profession - and I still really enjoy it. In Germany, there is no state-regulated training for tourist guides. For this reason, the Federal Association of Tourist Guides in Germany (BVGD e.V.) has developed a qualification course in collaboration with European partners that meets the European minimum standards for professional tourist guide training with at least 600 hours of theory and practice. I completed this DIN EN certification in 2024.
Stadtgeschichten Bremen has now grown into a small team with wonderful colleagues. We all share a love for Bremen and enjoy showing our city to guests from near and far.
We really enjoy bringing the many facets of Bremen closer to both visitors and locals every day. From the well-known sights to the hidden corners of the city that only insiders know about – every tour is a new opportunity for us to share our enthusiasm for Bremen.
For all of us, it's more than just a job—it's a matter oft he heart to present “our Bremen.” Let me and my team take you on an unforgettable journey through Bremen!
We look forward to seeing you!
Yours, Jasmin Nitzschner and the team of Stadtgeschichten Bremen
