Daytrip to Bremerhaven – Discover Bremen's sister city at the mouth of Weser river

We would be delighted to accompany you on an exciting day trip from Bremen to Bremerhaven – its maritime sister city at the mouth of the Weser river. Located about 60 kilometers north of Bremen, a fascinating mix of maritime history, modern science and lively harbor culture awaits you – perfect for group trips, club outings, company excursions, or simply as an extraordinary sightseeing tour with an adventure factor.

During the approximately one-hour drive in your tour bus, we will provide you with interesting information about sights and districts along the way to Bremerhaven (mostly from the motorway). You will also gain exciting insights into the history of the two cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven and their special connection.

From fishing port to container terminal

After arriving in Bremerhaven, we will start with a sightseeing tour through various areas of the city, which will take about 1.5-2 hours. Among other things, you will experience the famous fishing port, which today is home to numerous nationally renowned companies, institutes and tourist highlights. A special stop with a chance to get out is the “Schaufenster Fischereihafen” (fishing port showcase) – a charming area that combines tradition and modernity. Here you will have the opportunity to take a look at Fiedler's fish market from 1906 and, if you like, enjoy a fresh fish roll, which is typical for Bremerhaven. It's no coincidence that the city is affectionately nicknamed “Fishtown.”

Impressive port facilities and maritime flair

The tour continues through various districts, past Wilhelminian-style houses and old port buildings. In the harbor area, with a little luck, you will have the chance to see gigantic car carriers or cruise ships. From a distance, you can see the imposing Wilhelm Kaisen container terminal with its container gantry cranes up to 45 meters high – an impressive sight!

The "Havenwelten" – guided tour and free time for you

We will drop off at the modern area of "Havenwelten Bremerhaven", where you will have free time for lunch (duration to be agreed). You can visit one of the numerous restaurants or, depending on the season, treat yourself to a fish roll or other delicacies to take away.

On request, we will also be happy to help you organize a group lunch for the whole group in a selected restaurant (payable on site). Just let us know!

After lunch, we will explore the Havenwelten together on a guided walking tour (approx. 1.5 hours). You will not only learn interesting facts about the development of Bremerhaven and its sights, but also hear a few amusing anecdotes – including some real sailor's yarns that will make you smile.

Free time in Bremerhaven – culture, shopping and experiences

The guided tour ends in the pedestrian zone on Bürgermeister-Smidt-Strasse. Afterwards, you will have some free time to explore Bremerhaven on your own. The following highlights are recommended:

- Visit to the Klimahaus Bremerhaven 8° Ost
- German Emigration Center – emotional and interactive
- Bremerhaven History Museum
- German Maritime Museum and the museum ships in the Old Harbor (depending on the season)
- Art gallery or art museum in Bremerhaven
- Zoo by the sea – meet polar bears and many other animals
- Shopping or coffee break in one of the numerous cafés
- Viewing platform of the Atlantic Sail City Hotel – with panoramic views of the city and the harbors

Alternatively, we would be happy to plan a joint afternoon program for you: for example a visit to a café for coffee and cake or a guided tour of one of the museums (payable on site). Afterwards, we will drive back to Bremen.

For this day trip, you will need your own tour bus with driver. If you do not have one available, we will be happy to help you organize a rental bus on site.

Important information about port traffic

As the port of Bremerhaven operates seven days a week and port workers always have right of way, truck traffic may cause delays depending on the time of day and traffic volume. We ask for your understanding if the schedule has to be adjusted and the route shortened as a result.
